Jen – “The sky is the limit”

140# Weight Loss Transformation

CrossFit Jungle Gym athlete Jen Watt recently chatted with coach James about what brought her to CrossFit 2 years ago and how nutrition was the missing piece that she needed to continue improving.

What got you to come to CrossFit Jungle Gym?

I needed a change. I was feeling that I was in a rut. My previous gym’s workouts – I didn’t think they were getting me closer to my goals. I saw the FaceBook post of the 8 week fitness challenge for CrossFit Jungle Gym and despite me being nervous, thinking about a CrossFit box I figured I might as well give it a try. Vanessa texted me a video of herself talking about the program, so it gave me a good feel about it. So I came in and did the No Sweat Intro, just even in the conversations I heard Olympic lifts and knew this is what I wanted to do. From there, I did their program and got a lot out of it. I found out that this is definitely my community, I’ve seen a lot of gains even with the 8 week program. The rest is history.

Over the last 90 days what’s the biggest obstable we helped you overcome?

“At this point I’m trying to get more technical with my lifts. Trying to break down a lot of the movements and find out where I’m stuck skill wise. I know for myself, I pull very quickly for some of my movements. A lot of the hang positions has helped me a lot as far as getting down to where I’m losing technique.”

What are you looking to do in the next 90 days?

I want to be ready for the CrossFit Open. It’s coming in February. I know that seems a little far away. But it’s close enough where some movements like pull ups, T2B,a lot of my gymnastics movements I would like to improve on. Those are the movments I know that seperates me on the scale/RX movemnts in just the WODs here and the WODs in the open.

What would you want to share with anyone who is watching this video right now who’s in the same shoes?

“Anything is possible. There are a lot of things that I didn’t think I would be able to do – both strength wise and body image wise. There are things I thought as a Mom of 2, that it wasn’t going to happen. But I definitely think that with hard work, finding the right pieces that you need that are missing in your life, like for me the big one was nutrition. Nutrition really helped a lot it really took a rapid pace as to my improving. The sky is the limit.”
